Vampire : The Evaluated Situation : 21-10-2008

The Night of 21st October 2008, Paradigm Infinitum.
The Tournament got even lonlier with Paul unable to come down to join us. I was lucky enough to get myself a Nights Off from my army reservist duty to come down to complete the game. Before the tournament started we were playing a friendly 4-player game while waiting for Paul (I'll try to write a report on that one too if I can remember), but once TVC told us that Paul couldn't make it we proceeded to get on with the tournament. Being in the army even for a day sapped my memory bank. I can barely remember what went on that day. These were some glimpses of what I did remember. I was player 3, still with my Daughters deck though we were given the choice to change the tournament deck, just to make it interesting, all 4 of us stuck to our old decks last week. I was bleeding GeeHuan, TVC was bleeding me, and my ally was once again (gulp) Dan. Again, my Daughters' attempt to achieve vote superiority was foiled by Dan, with a quick weenie Justicar vote, and then Alexandra on table by turn 4. I did manage to get Celeste on the table on turn 1, and Embraced an extra Daughter quickly. Dan's pressure to TVC was heavy, and just to call my votes across I had to bargain with him, and a couple of KRC points went to TVC. The game sped up when Dan called his Judgment:Camarilla Segregation. Soon after that he called a successful Ancilla Empowerment. Even though I had my Conductor on table , I still couldn't challenge his vote, and all of us were reduced to a rather low pool. GeeHuan was down to 3 pool, and I took advantage of it, bled him for 2, and let him die to the Segregation. An attempt to bleed Dan resulted in a Kiss of Ra-ed Alexandra, whom I quickly diablerized, sacrificing an Embrace for that. Dan, however, brought out Leandro, and continue to hold vote superiority, and influence superiority. TVC bought me a few more rounds by relentlessly blocking Dan, but eventually was ousted. I didn't manage to do much with that time and soon succumbed to Dan's superior gameplay. Final Standing- Dan - 3VP Me - 1VP Winner of the Tournament - Dan. Overall I find my Daughter a slow deck to set up, but actually rather resilient in most cases. In this case there were absolutely no combat decks on the table, and vote defense was prolific, which made my Daughters' task so much more difficult - since combat cards cannot be cycled, and referendums had to be bargained thoroughly. However, the deck still proved quite robust and flexible, able to stand up to strong bleeders and strong voters and eventually still gain a status in the vote arena. I will probably move out a couple of combat cards, and throw in a few more Voter Caps and perhaps even a few more "easy-to-pass" referendums to keep my Daughters votes going while building up the vote strength.
