The Night of 30th March 2010, Paradigm Infinitum.
The final trial tournament before the first "real" 3 rounds tournament. I'm taking this opportunity to ensure I understand more or less all the ingredients of organizing a tournament. This is another of those 1+1 mini-tourny and many thanks to the players' understanding for all the impromptu stuff. Afterall, a 1+1 tournament isn't going to be very fair~
We have 12 Methuselahs for the game, apologies to Joshua and Alvin for unable to put them into the tournament as well, or we'd have 14 players.
Randomized seating for the qualifying round -
Table 1 is the high power Prince table -
Danz's Madness Network bleeding-
Ben Chia's Kiasyd bleed, bleeding
YY's Akunanse No Secret, bleeding
Bann's !Nosferatu Animalism.
Table 2
Jeff's Baali, bleeding
Nick's Tremere bleed, bleeding
Keith's Khazar Diary, bleeding
G1's Malkavian stealth bleed.
Table 3
Ben Sum's !Salubri, bleeding
YeQi's Malkavian Stealth bleed, bleeding
Big Jeff's POT beat, bleeding
BK's Malkavian.
The result of the 3 tables -
YeQi was the first to swept the table with 4 VP + GW
Ben Chia swept the table last with 4VP + GW
Keith had 3 VP + GW
G1 had 1 VP
Danz was the last to be ousted so I just included him in the last table~ :)
Final Table seating order was determined in the reverse order mentioned above, and the seating became -
Danz - YeQi - Ben - Keith - G1
The final table is full of bleeds and full of stealth, and pretty much everybody was at everybody's throat right from the beginning.
Round 1 we see Keith brought out Rodolfo Giovanni and G1 Zebulon with the help of an Information Highway. The table quickly response with their own minions, Danz with Aisling Sturbridge, YeQi Morel, Ben Roderick. Keith, being downwind of the Kiasyd powerbleed, was extremely lucky to bring out a second turn Protected Resources, and at the same time the foundation for the Khazar Diary, followed by 2 more Giovanni (Cristefero and Paul Dicarlo). G1 was the one who started the bleeding with Governed the Unaligned, Hide the Mind the Telepathic Misdirection played by Danz and brought out Anarch Troublemaker to the table, the first of the 2 "moving" cards on the table.
Danz was clearly not in his environment for this table, since there was almost no combat, and he didn't have enough intercepts to block the highly invisible Malkavians of G1. He had no choice but to fight with Zoe's help, and recruited a Neighbourhood Watch Commander (whom did not manage to do anything the whole game).
The mid game was commanded by hyper-bleeding from G1 and YeQi, as their preys were either unprepared to meet their attacks or stalled by their prey. Ben's powerbleed was rendered useless as long as Protected Resources was in play and Keith focused on using his many minions to set up his Diary - using Acquired Ventrue Assets, Powerbase : Cape Verde and occasional Liquidation to keep his pool healthy.
Anyway, Danz was the first to be ousted by G1's power stealth bleed, and with those extra pool G1 brought out the star vampire in this game - Normal. By turn 7 YeQi bled out Ben with a Kindred Spirit stealth with superior Elder Impersonation.
Keith, with Unmasking in play, now, started to block some of YeQi's bleed successfully. But regardless of how many times his Leonardo entered combat, no one was willing to land any damage on him. He did, eventually ding his Khazar Diary by himself on turn 8.
G1 then bled out YeQi at turn 10, and with his pool bolstered by an activated Ashur Tablet, had 5 minions on table against Keith's many wraiths. And this was his alpha strike (by then Keith had let go of the Protected Resources) -
First bleed with Govern the Unaligned, blocked by Repo Man, and killed Repo Man.
Second bleed successfully with Governed the Unaligned plus Conditioning for 6
Third bleed with Governed the Unaligned plus Bonding for 4, but was blocked by Tye Cooper
Fourth bleed successfully with Governed the Unaligned plus Conditioning for 6
Keith was down to 3 pool, and G1 had ONE MORE vampire to bleed! But...that vampire was Normal.
This is Normal, G1 needs to bleed for 3 with him to win the table.
Keith then ousted G1.
Final VP Count
Keith - 2 VP
G1 - 2 VP
YeQi - 1 VP
Keith and G1 each had 1 booster pack, and I think everyone agreed that G1's pack's yield was a lot better than Keith's.
