Skirmishes in the Dark - 12-06-2010

12th June, in the year 2010, Paradigm Infinitum.
Arrived at PI near evening, but spent the early part of the evening playing Race for the Galaxy instead of Vtes. After losing ALL the Race for the Galaxy games (good thing Cockroach is there so I didn't lose to EVERYBODY), and went for a reasonably nice dinner, we sat down to play Vtes.
Randomized seating for the first game -
LF's Samedi, bleeding
YY's Kiasyd try a new concept by bleeding you dry deck, bleeding
Bann's weenie stealth voters, bleeding
My Queen of the Wolves.
The game started with YY scaring everybody with his Kiasyds Gremlins with Conditioning. I brought out a 3-cap Gangrel and immediately equipped him with a cheating Heart while Bann tried his best to fend off the Kiasyds by blocking his bleeds with his pool. Bann quickly slapped Nosferatu Justicar on Duck, and then had a Praxis Seizure on another weenie and I started to worry my own votes going through.
Meanwhile, LF prepared her Samedi to attack the Kiasyds but YY didn't really mind the bleeds, either absorbing it or deflecting it to Bann, hastening the death of the weenies. By turn 4 I got myself Stanislava and had her ready for defense - but she proved inadequate in fending off the vote superiority of the weenies, and both me and LF started to eat KRCs from Bann. Lucky enough YY got rid of Bann rather quickly, and I started Deflecting the bleeds to LF while sending my own Governed the Unaligned with Conditionings towards her, stealthing through with my PRO stealth whenever LF tried to block. Enough Forced March and Freak Drives allowed me to take enough actions to sustain myself and I cycled into enough cards with the Heart's help.
Eventually my KRC and bleeds (plus the Deflected bleeds) overwhelmed LF, and a just in time Vele's Hunt burnt one of YY's Kiasyds, leaving him with only one vampire. An Ancient Influenced kept me alive long enough to Banish his last Kiasyd, and YY conceded the game.
Stanislava is fantastic.
Final VP Count -
Me - 3 VPs plus GW
YY - 1 VP
Randomized seating for the second game.
My Misery Tour bleeding,
LF's Malkavian stealth bleeder, bleeding
Bann's !Toreador Anarchs, bleeding
YY's Tzimisce Wall.
This game again had the fear instilled immediately by the Malkavians' stealth bleeds, and Bann was again at the frontline of it. I brought out Boss Calhihan and Pariah quickly - with Pariah spending pretty much the rest of game beating up the Malkavians in hope of helping my ally. Hagar Stone went into torpor at least 3 times and sent Pariah into torpor once.
Meanwhile, YY's Tzimisce forced the !Toreador to spend every bit of stealth to get through, and Bann was trying really hard with Palla Grande and Anarch Railroad to get through Lambach's Eternal Vigilance with Raven Spy. All these changed when LF played a Malkavian Game and net 9 pool from Bann! (7 ties before Bann loses!) This is probably the most impressive Malkavian Game that I've seen.
Later in the game LF played another Malkavian Prank. Before I rejoiced in the 4 pool that I've gained from this, LF promptly added 7 pool that was taken from Bann and YY. I pretty much gave up after that.
Bann bounced one 3 bleed to YY and LF actually stealthed through and depleted much of YY's intercepts. With that Bann finally managed to kill off YY's remaining 4 pool.
But even my constant attacks and PRE bleeds cannot stop the Malkavians. Soon the Malkavians kill off Bann and then go on to kill me off.
Final VP Count -
LF - 3 VPs plus GW
Bann - 1 VP
(o.o)
